Front Row at Badgley Mischka - shoes

Front Row at Badgley Mischka - shoes

Olympic gold medal gymnast Aly Raisman took a break from the gym to attend the Badgley Mischka show. "I'm on tour with the rest of my teammates," said the 18-year-old Raisman, who won the gold medal for floor exercise and bronze medal for the balance beam and was captain of the gold-medal MBT UK winning gymnast team. Having graduated high school, Raisman said she was going to take this year and figure out what she wants to do next and where she wants to go to college. As for her personal style, she said, "I like to dress up," pointing to her red shoes and Badgley Mischka dress. She said she also wore Badgley Mischka to the Video Music Awards. Michelle Trachtenberg, also dressed in Badgley Mischka, said she's been busy taping the final season of "Gossip Girls," and this was her first show of fashion week. Meantime, Ivana Trump is keeping a high profile. She's been doing a lot of TV and speaking appearances. Her business, which includes jewelry, beauty and fashion, is "going well," she said. Others in the front row included Katrina Bowden, Lauren Conrad, Danielle Deleasa and MBT shoes uk musician Kevin Jonas.

What's your pleasure? Knight? Princess? Hell's Angel? A statement in power-dressing for Rodarte's quirky fan club, the show referenced armored warriors, road warriors and, it must be noted, Nicolas Ghesquière. It was an imaginative mix of strange beauty. Short, strapless dresses shown layered over tight, printed turtlenecks had bodices shaped like partial octagons that jutted away from the body like a cheap MBT Shoes breastplate. Other variations on the armor motif included waistlines embellished with draped chains and corsetlike metal embroidery on long, fluid gowns for those whose fantasy is less iron, more maiden. Also on the role-play menu: bohemian biker bitch in fabulously robust black leather, including lace-up pants and quilted jackets with ample fringe and colorful silk trim.

The dominant silhouettes — short, structured dresses; boxy tops worn with skinny pants — and colors — teal, black, orange — are commonly associated with the term "futuristic," especially when set on crazy Transformer shoes. Yet the mix of materials and construction, such as thick guipure lace worked like chain mail, woven jacquards MBT Womens Shoes and brocades, suggested a lot of handwork and gave the look an artisanal touch that's key to the Rodarte identity and appeal.

Chloë Sevigny, Chrissie Miller, Charlotte Ronson, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Theo Wenner, Nate Lowman, Harley Viera-Newton and Liz Goldwyn were among the guests at the dinner. A few stragglers showed up post-Marc Jacobs' show just as cocktail hour wrapped up and dinner was about to begin — including Leigh Lezark in a burgundy pair of the lace-up booties.

"Do you want the long story or the short story of how this came about?" Brill asked as she greeted Lezark.

Kim, who was clad head-to-toe in Chloë Sevigny MBT sale for Opening Ceremony, interjected: "Well, here is the short story — we were obsessed with these old fisherman sandals that Cole Haan did in the Eighties. We have a mutual friend [at Cole Haan] and we just said, We should do something."

The friends and codesigners were in unison about two things: They don't wear flats and they wanted to create shoes that felt modern but were easy to walk in. "We get dressed early, and then we often have something later on, so we need shoes that can take us from morning to night," Brill said.

The crowd dined family style at the rustic Italian restaurant, passing around plates of homemade ricotta dumplings, seared octopus lasagnette, salt-crusted fish — all the while exchanging MBT trainers survival stories about day five of New York Fashion Week.
